Peace silk (also known as Ahimsa and non-violent silk) is not only vegetarian but also organic - as the silkworm is not boiled alive, as in normal silk production.
The moths are allowed to emerge from their cocoons naturally - they then continue to live out their full life cycle. The silk is degummed and spun like other fibre as it is lots of little strands, unlike the one long strand that comes from boiling the cocoons. The resulting spun yarn is soft, fluffy and light - which means this silk is even warmer than usual silk, whilst still being feather-light.
Plus as all our other products - we only use natural dyes to create a range of colours.
